My healing philosophy centres around using acupuncture to empower
and facilitate the self-healing capacity of each individual who
comes for treatment. I also focus on encouraging individuals to
become actively involved in the recovery of their physical and
emotional health and wellbeing.
Qualifications
I trained at the London College of Traditional Acupuncture,
graduating with a BSc (Hons) in Acupuncture.
I am a member of the British Acupuncture Council, the UK’s main
regulatory body for the practice of traditional acupuncture.
Having completed a course in Japanese Paediatric Acupuncture, I am
also qualified to treat babies and young children and use a
technique which involves using special instruments to tap and rub
the skin surface, without insertion of needles. This means that
babies and children can benefit from acupuncture without the pain
and anxiety that children often associate with needles.
I am also a Business Psychologist, having previously completed a
Masters in Occupational Psychology. As a result, I have had a lot of
experience running workshops and training courses and facilitating
self-development through coaching. I often use coaching techniques
within the framework of acupuncture treatments to encourage clients
to take an active role in making relevant changes to their diet or
lifestyle.
Treatment available and what to expect from a session
Traditional Chinese Medicine acupuncture can help relieve the
syptoms of a number of conditions, including, but not limited to:
| Osteoarthritis | Neck and/or back pain | Sciatica |
| Muscular aches & pains | Tennis/golfer’s elbow | PMS & Menstrual pain |
| Infertility | Headaches & migraines | Insomnia |
| Stress and/or anxiety | Hypertension | Dizziness |
| Cold and flu symptoms | Sinus problems | Hayfever |
| Asthma | Digestive problems | Nausea and vomiting |
Along with the insertion of extremely fine single-use pre-sterilised
acupuncture needles, I may also use cupping therapy, moxibustion,
auricular acupuncture and electroacupuncture. I may also advise
clients on acupressure points that they can press and manipulate
themselves, between treatments.
The first consultation will last between 75 and 90 minutes and a
full case history will be taken, including family and personal
medical history. A wide range of questions will be asked in order to
gain an in-depth understanding of the presenting problem and all
aspects of an individual’s health. This is because Traditional
Chinese Medicine Acupuncture is a holistic system, concerned with
treating the whole person rather than just a set of symptoms.
Following the case history taking, treatment will be offered.
Follow-up treatments will be shorter, around 45-50 minutes, moving
more quickly into treatment after a review of how things are going.
